Qualifying for the warm home discount

If you get the Guaranteed Credit element of Pension Credit, you qualify for the scheme and should receive this discount automatically. You’ll receive a letter before January 2023 to confirm this.

You may still be eligible for the warm home discount if:

  • Your energy supplier is part of the scheme
  • You get specific means tested benefits or tax credits
  • Your property costs a lot to heat due to the age and size

If you don’t receive a letter by the end of January 2023, you can contact the warm home discount helpline. You will need to contact the helpline before 28th Feb 2023 to claim.

Properties with high heating costs

If you are on a low income, your eligibility will be determined by your property characteristics. An algorithm is used based on the type, age and floor area of your home.

Data is used from the VOA (Valuation Office Agency) where available. In the event that this data is missing, data from neighbouring properties can be used.
